1.  On a clean sheet of paper, write a one-paragraph summary of the major events that happened in these chapters (apply G.I.S.T.).  Then complete the rest of the questions on this page.

2.  Why does Mr. Beale take Maniac back to the Beale house?

He takes Maniac back to his house because Maniac doesn't have anywhere to live.

3.  What does Maniac do before falling asleep at the Beale house?  Why?

Maniac goes to look at the address because he has always wanted an address, and now he has one.

4.  What is the only way Hester and Lester agree to take a bath?

Hester and Lester will only take a bath if Amanda or Maniac take a bath with them.

5.  What is Maniac allergic to?  Why is everyone so surprised about this?

Maniac is allergic to pizza and that is surprising because almost every child in America enjoys pizza and almost noone is is allergic to it.

6.  What feeling is Maniac "blind to"?

Maniac is blind to sadness bacause of other people's hate, anger, and insults.

7.  What idea does Amanda have for making everyone like Maniac?

Amanda thinks that Maniac should untie cobble's knot, and then she thinks everyone will like him.

8.  What does Maniac do for ten minutes before trying to untie the knot?

Maniac examines the knot for ten minuted before trying to untie it.

9.  Why does Maniac feel he has to leave the Beale family?

Maniac feels that he has to leave because he is causing trouble for the Beales.

10. Why does Maniac leave town by walking down the center of Hector Street?

Maniac leaves town by walking down the center of Hector Street because that is the devider between East End and West End.
